Mother’s Day
Photography and oil on wood, 2018 (8x10)
Mother's Day began as a casual moment, captured on the Saturday before the holiday in the floral section of Trader Joe’s. The shelves were brimming with vibrant blooms, spilling out into the parking lot and carefully arranged for last-minute shoppers choosing flowers for their mothers. I lingered over the decision, drawn to the sheer abundance of choices, the flowers’ beauty magnified by their numbers that day. After much thought, I settled on a red and pink bouquet—a choice that felt fleeting at the time but would soon take on profound significance.
Little did I know, this would be the last Mother’s Day I’d ever buy flowers for my mom. What started as a simple shopping trip transformed into a poignant, cherished memory, forever tied to a time to which I can never return.
